Harding & Son Dumpster Rental runs out of a yard on 9 Van Zant St, near Norwalk Harbor and minutes from I-95. The company started after seeing the same pattern too often — missed drop-offs, confusing pricing, or poor communication right when someone needed help the most. So we do the opposite. One number that covers the job. A delivery window we actually hit. A person on the phone rather than a form on a website.
Norwalk sits at a genuine coastal-and-inland meeting point worth knowing: Connecticut has had no functioning county government since 1960, so "Fairfield County" — the real geographic name for the region — is not a meaningful way to split our service area. What actually varies is coastal versus inland: Westport, Darien, Stamford, Greenwich and Fairfield sit along the Long Island Sound shoreline and I-95 corridor with us, while Wilton, New Canaan, Weston, Ridgefield, Redding, Bethel, Trumbull, Easton and Monroe sit inland, reached via Route 7, the Merritt Parkway and Route 25. Norwalk itself is a genuine mix — the working waterfront and the historic South Norwalk (SoNo) district near the harbor, alongside quieter, more suburban stretches farther from the water — so what changes town to town is access, density and distance from the coast, not one uniform shape. A tight lot behind an older SoNo building on a one-way street is a different job than an open new-construction lot out in Wilton, and real coastal Connecticut weather — a fall or winter nor'easter and a remnant hurricane both bring down limbs and push tidal flooding with very little notice, in different seasons and different ways. Knowing which is which before the truck arrives is most of the job.
Whatever you are clearing — flood or storm debris, a family home, a new-construction site or a storm-damaged roof — the container exists for it. Call (475) 242-2874 and describe it in a sentence.

Twelve service lines out of one yard. Same containers, same flat pricing — what changes is how the load gets sized and what has to stay out of it.

How it works
Most bookings take under four minutes.
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the box needs to sit and when you need it, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No forms, no waiting on an email.
You get one number covering delivery, the rental period, pickup, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so.
The driver walks the spot with you and sets the container square on the driveway, lot or jobsite. If the surface needs protection we will say so before we set it down.
Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.
Clean concrete, metal and yard debris get routed for recovery rather than landfilled where we can. You get your driveway or lot back the way you left it.
Local knowledge
There is a difference between covering an area and knowing it. We know which Norwalk and Westport streets fill up in beach-season traffic, which shoreline towns have their own strict right-of-way permit process, what a narrow SoNo side street can and cannot take, and what I-95 traffic near the harbor is doing on a given afternoon.
Our service area page lists every town we cover, grouped by coastal or inland geography, and how close each one is to the yard, and each town has its own page covering access, housing stock and the local rules we run into.

Why us
The phone rings at 9 Van Zant St near Norwalk Harbor, minutes off I-95. Whoever picks up knows the difference between a tight South Norwalk (SoNo) lot on a one-way street and a wide-open new-construction site out in Wilton or Ridgefield.
Delivery, the rental period, pickup, fuel, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance in a single number. If your load looks like it will go over, we say so before the truck leaves the yard.
Call early and most Norwalk, Westport and Darien orders go out the same day. Farther towns like Ridgefield or Redding are usually next-day — honestly, and in advance.
Boards go under the rails on every driveway as standard, and the driver will tell you before delivery if a tight in-town SoNo lot, a narrow shoreline driveway, or a new-construction site needs a different approach.
Weight fills a container long before volume does. If a 10 yard is the honest answer for your concrete load, that is what we will quote you.
Coastal Connecticut sits in a real storm path on both ends of the year — fall-through-spring nor'easters that bring down trees and power lines across the shoreline, and tidal/storm-surge flooding along the Norwalk River and Norwalk Harbor on the other. We size jobs for both, from a downed-limb cleanup to a water-damage gut-out.

Credentials
Straightforward, checkable facts about who you would be working with — no invented star ratings or reviews.
Fully insured for general liability and commercial auto. A certificate of insurance goes to your property manager, general contractor or builder on request, usually the same day.
Harding & Son is locally owned and still runs out of one yard. The number on this page reaches the Norwalk yard, not an answering service in another state.
Close to the yard along the coast in Norwalk, Westport, Darien, Stamford, Greenwich and Fairfield, and inland across Wilton, New Canaan, Weston, Ridgefield, Redding, Bethel, Trumbull, Easton and Monroe. We tell you honestly which runs are same-day and which are next-day before you book, not after.
Clean concrete, scrap metal and yard debris get routed for recovery rather than buried wherever the local facilities allow it — good practice, not a state mandate here.

Pricing
Dumpster pricing in the Norwalk area isn't random — size, weight, rental length, and location all factor in. Here's what actually moves the number, and what a flat rate should cover.
Guides
Most household and construction debris is fair game in a roll-off dumpster — but hazardous materials never are. Here's the real breakdown, and why it pays to double-check with your town.
Permits
Permit rules for a dumpster come down to one question: is it on private property or in the public right-of-way? And in Connecticut, the answer never comes from the county.
Service area
We run roll-off containers out of our Van Zant Street yard near the harbor to all fifteen communities we cover along the coast and inland — Norwalk itself and the shoreline towns of Westport, Darien, Stamford, Greenwich and Fairfield, plus the inland towns of Wilton, New Canaan, Weston, Ridgefield, Redding, Bethel, Trumbull, Easton and Monroe. Norwalk, Westport and Darien are usually same-day; the inland towns farther from I-95 are more often next-day. If your address is not listed, call anyway. We likely still get there.
Answers
Most jobs in this part of Connecticut run roughly $450 to $900, depending on the container size, how dense the debris is, how long you keep it and how far out the delivery address is — every job is genuinely different, so that is a general market range, not a quote. What matters more is how the price is built. Ours is a flat rate covering delivery, the rental period, pickup and disposal, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay. Call with a short description of the job and you will get a firm number on that call, not a callback.
Near the yard in Norwalk and the coastal shoreline towns — Westport and Darien included — a morning call is often a same-day delivery. Farther inland towns in our service area — Ridgefield, Redding and similar — usually run next-day rather than same-day. Jobsite swap-outs get priority over new deliveries, because a full container stops a crew working.
It depends on where the container sits. On your own driveway, curb apron or job site — private property — no permit is required. If the container has to sit in the public right-of-way, a street or sidewalk, you may need a temporary permit from the City of Norwalk, and we can help walk you through that process. Our permit guide covers the pattern across the rest of the service area.
Paint, solvents, oils, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, gas cylinders, propane tanks and medical waste are never allowed in a roll-off. That list applies everywhere we deliver — it is the material that gets pulled and charged back if it turns up in a load.
A loaded roll-off is heavy, and boards go under the rails as standard on every placement to spread that weight out. Tell us if the surface is anything other than a standard concrete or asphalt driveway — a narrow SoNo side street, a shared driveway, or a newer pour — and we will talk through the right approach before the truck arrives.
Volume and weight are two separate limits and the material decides which one stops you first. Household clear-outs and construction offcuts run out of space, so size up. Concrete, brick, tile and landscape rock run out of weight with the box barely a third full, so size down and fill it part way. The 20 yard suits most whole-project jobs; the 10 yard is the right answer for anything heavy.
Yes, all 15 towns we cover along the coast and inland — Norwalk and the shoreline towns of Westport, Darien, Stamford, Greenwich and Fairfield, plus the inland towns of Wilton, New Canaan, Weston, Ridgefield, Redding, Bethel, Trumbull, Easton and Monroe. Distance is real, so a Ridgefield or Redding run is scheduled next-day rather than same-day and is not priced identically to a Norwalk or Westport delivery. We tell you both things on the phone before anything is booked.
Coastal Connecticut has two genuinely busy stretches worth planning around: nor'easter season, roughly November through March, when a coastal storm can bring down trees and power lines and push tidal flooding up the Norwalk River with very little notice, and the tail end of hurricane season, roughly August through October, when a storm's remnants can push damaging wind and coastal flooding across the shoreline. The spring-through-fall building and renovation season runs on top of both. Outside those windows, contractors are more available and containers are easier to schedule. If your job has to run during a busy window, book as far ahead as you can.
